So we are in kicked in gear, running left and right, barely keeping up mode.  It is Spring.  2017.  Spring.  Realtors.  Yeppers.  As a group, we are juggling, stressed, and smiling while having our proverbial Bonus season for the year.  You normal people in NWA or other big cities in the world, you guys get your bonuses in December.  Not us.  We work for our yearly bonus in Spring, (think kids graduating), and Summer (ooo family vacation time!!!!!! woohooo!).  We love it.  Serious.  I cannot tell you how much and how huge my love is for each family/person I deal with.  It is LOVE.  It is caring.  It competes with my family time at the most family oriented times of the year.
You have to truly LOVE what you do, to allow it to compete with your family.  Anyways......getting past the sassiness.

You guys have been wrong about something.  Somehow our X Generation has the belief that the Millenials (I am really uncomfortable with generalizing any group) are self important, instantly gratified generation of good for nothings.  Serious.   Every 4th article I read (and I censor reading time to the utmost coveted luxury time I own) disparages Millenials.

It ain't true good people.

It IS NOT true.

Millennials are pretty bad-ass if you get to know them.

The key is to get to know them.  They aren't that different than us.  Actually, in a 27 year old Millenial i see myself exactly as that same 27 year old.  I still feel 27. For reals.
Just my face/body/time says differently.

Actually the Millenials I have had the pleasure of working with?  Only 1/5th of my current clients?  Those Millenials are buying smarter than we did at their age.  I know---bah humbug Rene.

Could they be smarter than us?  *gasp*

Could they just have some differences than us?  *gasp*

Why yes.  Yes they could.  And let me tell you what I have noticed these difference are.

They still have imagination.  Yes they do.  They aren't scared of a little DIY.  Watching a YouTube video to figure out how to install a reverse osmosis system in their home.  They are also willing to work through foundation and possible structural issues....and manage to call 18 contractors and 9 foundation specialists.  Let me tell you they have way more information instantly at their fingertips than we did.  We had to research....look up......study....hypothesize.   They just have to google.  Our generation subsisted of oral communications and reading- spending hours to find any tidbit of info.
They can google, youtube, and Facebook their way into jobs, resume skills, development of skills, titles, and experiences.  Whoa.  Holy Shiesty.  They got it going on.

They have to be expert analyzers of instant information.  Sorting and Rationalization Skills.
Holy Crap.  When I read something in a book at age 27 I still believed it  Wow.  I was insane.  Part of growing up is learning what you don't know, for example:  how naive you are.  The MIllenials LOST their naiveté  way young.  They grew up analyzing their surroundings.  We Gen X's trusted what we read..  Who is smarter?  Your call.  I believe they are more open than we were.  Their brains are a bottomless pit of information.  Ours were fed a limited world view of however we grew up.  Farming, City, Country, Rich, Poor, Black, White.  We were more "stuck" in the environments we grew up in.  With social media, there is no absence of a variety of belief systems on any persons personal page.  These millennials have the ability to see any Utopian possibility of a world that could exist, right from their smart phones daily.

They Hyper-Focus so well.
When a millennial buys a fixer upper house?  They have a google doc to share with you,
Generation X ?  Honestly they are good to research on their own.  But I am surprised at the numbers who don't use Google search.  Apps for measuring rooms.  There is a huge gap between the Technology usage of the Millenials vs Generation x.
For Example.  There are apps that will plug in entire dimension of a home and allow you to perfectly position your furniture and decorations.  A Millennial will stay up until 4:00 am to get the room just right.  Generation X will schedule a few extra appointments to pick furniture and size and decide how to place it in rooms.  ......both examples achieving positive and negative results.  I like both sides to the equation.

I am oldschool complete Generation X'er on the one hand.  On the other hand, I found the app to map your home and share it with most of my clients.  I am in the middle.  Gardener at heart, earth loving, slightly crunchy city dweller, raised in the country, can fix anything because we had to, nerd tagged early in life, star wars fan  VS  app obsessed, can it help my life, negotiating a win to every situation, technology loving, envelope pushing, marketing fuzzball, love on her clients Realtor.
Truly in the middle of two worlds and I love them both.

I love you Millenials.  If no one else told you today.  You are amazing.  Keep pushing us.  You have got this.  I believe in you.
